As India faces a grave crisis with the unprecedented second wave of the Covid pandemic, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is working to produce medical-grade liquid oxygen. According to reports, Mukesh Ambani is personally supervising the operation at Jamnagar. The company has also stated that it has now become India’s largest liquid oxygen producer from a single location.

At its refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Jamnagar and other facilities, RIL now reportedly produces over 1,000 MT of medical-grade liquid oxygen per day. The production is over 11 per cent of India’s total production which has the capacity of fulfilling the needs of every one in 10 patients. This is to be mentioned that Reliance is not traditionally a manufacturer of medical-grade liquid oxygen.
