Researchers in Japan have demonstrated a web speed of 319 terabits per second, setting a record. A team of researchers at the Japan National Institute of data and technology (NICT) uses advanced fiber-optic technology with a 4-core optical fiber of an ordinary outer diameter of 0.125 mm to perform the speed test. By Breaking the previous record of 178 Tb/s set by engineers in Japan and Britain a year ago. The Japanese research institute has confirmed that the fastest internet speed test will help the new communication systems in many ways.

If you are an online buff and love spending time watching videos, playing games, and just surfing websites, you may want to think about moving to Japan.

That is because the country has set a brand new record for the fastest internet speed ever recorded.

Researchers at the Japan National Institute of knowledge and technology, who are working to push the boundaries of online information transfer, demonstrated a web speed of 319 Terabits (TBs) per second, setting a replacement record.

The researchers achieved the never-seen-before speeds by using advanced fiber-optic technology with a 4-core glass fiber of ordinary outer diameter of 0.123 mm for the test.

The new speed is sort of 7 million times faster than the fastest speed of the net within the US. And a shocking 24 million times faster than the fastest speed in India. The test in Japan was complete during a lab, where the researchers constructed a recirculating transmission loop by combining two earth-doped fiber amplifiers. The scientist is to stretch the signal for 3,000 km with the mix of erbium and thulium doped-fiber amplifiers and distributed Raman amplification.

The findings of the research have now been present at the International Conference on glass fiber Communications.

The 4-core MCF with standard cladding diameter is attractive for early adoption of SDM fibers in high-throughput, long-distance links. It is compatible with conventional cable infrastructure expects to possess mechanical reliability appreciate single-mode within the Japanese research, says the paper published earlier this month.

Japan sets the record for the fastest internet speed

Achieved through a lab test using high-end equipment, NICT, short for National Institute of data and Communication, has achieved a speed of 319Tbps, which seems to be the new record for internet speed. They managed to attain it by upgrading every stage of the optics pipeline. Per a report on Engadget, the fiber optic line upgrade to four cores rather than one. While the test was conducted indoors in an exceedingly lab, the test transferred data through a coiled fiber and simulated a distance of 1,865 miles.

The record speed is 16,000 times faster than 5G. The internet speed achieved by scientists in Japan is approximately 16,000 times faster than the speed of 5G technology, which remains available in some parts of the globe. However, to implement the experiment at a national or maybe a regional scale, the setup is costlyone among the aspects of a large-scale internet setup is the cost, as users cannot pay steep amount. The scientists at NICT envision the technology to be beyond 5G and more practical than 5G.

High-speed internet is what everyone has to survive this situation pandemic and consequent work & learn from home situation. Japanese researchers found how to interrupt the web speed record via a glass fiber connection. A record Japan has achieved away from the typical internet speed within us.

Fastest Internet Speed Record: Previous Holder

To be specific, the Japanese engineers toppled the web speeds of another group of engineers from the University College London (UCL).

It is to notice that the UCL broke the previous record that the NICT of Japan also achieved, which only boasted 172 Tbps. So, the recent achievement of the Japanese engineers paved the way for them to redeem the record they once prided as theirs.

 How Did Japan Do It?

PCMag wrote that such marvelous achievement isn’t possible without the impressive engineering behind it. That said, the Japanese engineers had to utilize an optical fiber that incorporates a four-core.

The researchers also unveiled that except for that, they also paired it with “552 PDM-16QAM and wavelength-division multiplexed channels.” Mention that the engineers thought of including “erbium and thulium doped-fibre amplifiers and distributed Raman amplification.” Additionally, except for the inclusion of C and L bands for long-haul communication networks, the fastest internet connection sported an S-band.

All these technicalities helped the engineers from Japan achieve the fastest internet speed on Earth. As such, the identical technology requires an overhaul of the present infrastructure. Thusit will not be significantly expensive and labor-intensive to implement. However, while this record is the fastest internet speed record, An achievement already NICT engineers floated they’re going to make it even faster, which they’ll work.
