India vs England, 2nd Test Day 3 has begun. An early blow to the Indian side as Cheteshwar Pujara had to depart for run out. Virat Kohli is on the crease to move forward the scoresheet alongside Rohit Sharma.
The Indian bowlers did an extremely commendable job to restrict the English side for 134. After scoring 54 at the end of day 2, the Indian team is already 249 runs ahead with only the casualty of Shubman Gill (14 off 28).
India will be looking forward to a big score on the boards, approximately around 350-450. Considering the Chennai pitch condition, it will be a great challenge for Joe Root’s side to chase. We have seen that in the first innings.
Eyes will be on Rohit Sharma who played a brilliant knock of 161 off 231 balls in the first innings. Seeing him bat on the second innings, another big knock coming from the hitman’s bat won’t be too much of an expectation. The Indian skipper will also be expected to play a good knock after his dismissal for a duck in the first innings.
For England, Jack Leach and Moeen Ali would be the key players who would look for the early dismissal of the Indian top batting order. Although, there’s the heavy hitter Rishabh Pant down the line who has just been phenomenal since the Australian series. The performance of both the teams on Day 3 will be the decider of the winners.
