India reports over 2.17 lakh COVID-19 cases in a day, deaths toll crosses 1100

India has reported more than 2 lakh new COVID-19 cases and above 1,100 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry on Friday.

In the last 24 hours, 1,185 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country taking the overall death toll to 1,74,308. A total number of 2,17,353 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in India in the last 24 hours which takes the national tally of the total number of cases to 1,42,91,917. However, the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country stands at 11,72,23,509.

As many as 16,699 new COVID-19 cases and 112 COVID-related deaths were reported in the national capital in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Delhi health department on Thursday evening. The total number of active cases is currently 54,309 in Delhi. This is the fifth consecutive day that the national capital has reported over 10,000 fresh cases.

Maharashtra continued to report the worst COVID-19 figures as on Thursday, about 61,695 new COVID-19 cases and 349 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours. As per the state health department, the total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 36,39,855. Maharashtra also accounts for 29,59,056 recoveries and 59,153 deaths.
