The Delhi court today granted bail to the 21-years old climate activist, Disha Ravi who was arrested for allegedly being involved in sharing a “toolkit” on social media related to the farmers’ protest. Additional Sessions Judge, Dharmender Rana granted relief to Ravi on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties of like amount.
Disha Ravi got arrested by a Cyber Cell Team of the Delhi Police from Bengaluru and brought to Delhi. She was kept in police custody. She was produced today before “Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate” as her police custody period was scheduled to expire today.
The Court noted that “considering the scanty and sketchy evidence, there was no palpable reason to breach the rule of bail for a 22-year-old girl who has absolutely no criminal antecedents”.
Delhi Police had alleged Ravi for creating the online toolkit – a Google document – in support of ongoing farmers’ protest. It also claims that she is part of global conspiracy to produce unrest and trigger violence in the guise of farmers’ stir against the three agriculture laws.
Yesterday, she was sent to one-day police custody after a three-day judicial remand and spending five days in police custody. Ravi got arrested on February 13.
