Arvind Kejriwal and his party have started their preparations for the Goa elections. On Tuesday 21 September 2021, the Aam Aadmi Party chief made unemployment an issue while announcing seven promises. Kejriwal promised 80 percent job reservation in the private sector along with a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 for youth.
“If Aam Aadmi Party elected to power in Goa then he will make such arrangements under which youth from each and every household get a job. Until they get their jobs, they will be given Rs 3,000 and in some cases Rs 5,000 per month as unemployment allowance,” Arvind Kejriwal said.
Further, Kejriwal said that Goa’s youth are scared of outsiders who will get jobs here after mining auctions. He said, “We will ensure that 80 percent of jobs in mining are reserved for the local people”.
Delhi Chief Minister promised that just like reservation in government jobs his party will bring a law under which 80 percent of private-sector jobs will be reserved for the local people of Goa. While blaming the present Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and ruling BJP, Kejriwal said “what we did four years ago in Delhi, that Sawant doing now for Goa. I heard that Sawant has made water-free and has also started doorstep delivery. We did this many years ago in Delhi”.
Meanwhile, he asked, “what is the need for a duplicate? Sawant is copying the ‘Delhi model’ in Goa”. Referring to Aam Aadmi Party he said that the original is available to serve you. “Political parties have looted Goa’s public and it’s resources. God has given everything to Goa. Goa is a beautiful state with nice people, ocean, and mountains but the present government doesn’t care. We need to stop this loot and have made detailed plans to protect our resources and people,” said Kejriwal.
Kejriwal also points out the impact and harm done by pandemics on the economy of the state. He said “Goa mostly depend on tourism revenues. So, the impact of COVID-19 is very visible here. Due to the pandemic, there were so many restrictions on the mining sector, therefore, so many people have been lost their jobs. Those whose jobs had been lost in the mining industry would get an unemployment allowance of Rs 5,000 per month”.
Sawant offered free electricity in August to counter this. However, Kejriwal also offered 300 units of free electricity. Which means, the farmers of the state were to get free electricity which would be paid for by the government.
At last, Kejriwal said “Main jo kahta hu krta hu, main neta nhi hu, main rajneeti nhi krta. Main aam aadmi hu (I do what I say will do. I’m not a politician, I’m a common man)”. Previously in Uttarakhand and Punjab Kejriwal also made similar promises to the voters, if his party come into power.
